Chile’s Atacama Desert and Easter Island Photo Adventure

Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive Santiago, Chile and connect with a flight to Calama 2.5 hrs north. Following lunch drive 1 hr east to San Pedro de Atacama. Check into our hotel with a welcome dinner and orientation meeting in the evening.
Days 2-5: Explore several photographic destinations around San Pedro de Atacama. Altitude is an issue here so we will visit lower elevation sites the first days and then work our way up to higher locations later in the week. Options include: Valley of the Moon (spectacular landscapes), The Rainbow Valley, Lagunas de los Flamencos, The Salar de Atacama (salt flats), Geysers of Tatio (for sunrise). One evening following dinner we will to visit a star observation facility for a nightsky tour lead by a trained astronomer (our tour dates will put us here around the new moon which is the best time for observing and photographing the night sky).
Day 6: Depart San Pedro de Atacama to Calama to board our flight to Santiago. Overnight in Santiago.
Day 7: Fly to Hanga Roa on Easter Island (5 hrs). Dinner and orientation meeting in the evening.
Days 8-10: 3 full-days exploring all of the major archeological sites and scenic attractions around Easter Island. Rana Raraku Crater, Orongo, Tongariki, Anakena, Tahai, etc. The Sebastian Englert museum is also quite interesting and worthwhile. Each evening we will dine a different local restaurant within walking distance from our hotel. Seafood lovers will rejoice!
Day 11: Fly to Santiago. In the AM before our flight we may have the option of attending a unique Easter Island church service in town, walking distance from our hotel. After arrival in Santiago you will connect with your evening return flight home. End of tour……
Price: US$6,650 p.p. based on shared room, US$7,980 single private room.
Included: All hotel accommodations, meals, ground transportation, local guides and photo instruction.
Not Included: International and domestic airfare, alcoholic beverages and soft drinks (bottled water included at meals), park entrance fees, optional boat tours, gratuities for local guides and hotel/restaurant staff, laundry service.
