The Jaguars of Brazil’s Pantanal

Sept 9-20, 2026

Day 1:

Arrive to Cuiaba Airport (CGB).

You will be met at the Cuiaba airport upon arrival and transferred to our hotel nearby. In the evening we will meet for an orientation meeting with our guide followed by a welcome dinner. Overnight at Amazon Airport Hotel.

Day 2:

Cuiabá airport > Hotel Baiazinha, Paraguay river.

Pickup at Hotel Cuiabá at 730am and transfer to our first destination in the Pantanal. After driving about two and a half hours, we hit a dirt road leading us to the Baiazinha Hotel on the banks of the Paraguay river. We arrive around 12pm. Following lunch we will go for a boat safari on the Paraguay River in search for all kind of wildlife with hopes of spotting our first Jaguar. We come back to the lodge around sunset. Dinner and overnight at the Baiazinha Hotel.

​​Days 3-4:

Paraguay river, near the Taiamã Reserve. 

We will spend wo full-days here devoted to boat safaris on the Paraguay River and several of its bays, in order to maximize our chances of spotting and photographing Jaguars, Giant Otters and other wildlife. Outings will take place in the morning and afternoon, cruising the rivers in search of jaguars which often come to the banks in search of food, water, or just to cool off. Dinner and overnight at the Baiazinha Hotel.

Day 5:

Hotel Baiazinha to Piuval Lodge

Breakfast and check-out. After driving about 3 hours, we arrive in Poconé. From here we hit the Transpantaneira Highway, a dirt road that transects the Northern Pantanal. We will stop to photograph any wildlife we may encounter along the way. We arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. After a break we will go on a forest walk in search of dry-land mammals and birds. At dusk, we will go on a night safari in search of nocturnal wildlife such as Ocelot, Puma, Giant Anteater, Tamandua, Crabeating Fox, Potoos, and Owls. Dinner and overnight Piuval Lodge.

Day 6-7:

Piuval Lodge

2 full-days to explore the many photo opportunities in this remote pristine area. We will spend quality time photographing the hundreds of caimans on the small lakes, and the Jabirus in their nest along the lodge’s private road. Our activities are a combination of overland safaris, forest walks and night safaris. We will discover remote areas of this vast ranch, which stands as one of the best place to photograph Tapirs and Anteaters in the Northern Pantanal. After dinner, we will go out for night safari in search of mammals and other nocturnal wildlife such as Great Horned Owl, Nightjar, Pottoos, along with many other possibilities. Dinner and overnight. Day 8:

Piuval Lodge > Porto Jofre

Early morning safari at sunrise. Breakfast and checkout. Driving further into the Pantanal, as we cover the Transpantaneira to reach Porto Jofre and check in at our lodge, situated on the riverbank of the Cuiabá river. This afternoon we go out for a boat safari on the Cuiabá river in search for jaguars, giant river otters and other wildlife. We come back at sunset. Dinner and overnight.

Days 9-11:

Porto Jofre & Meeting of the Waters State Park

Three full-days in the Meeting of the Waters State Park making morning and afternoon boat safaris on the Cuiabá river and its numerous tributaries, in search of Jaguars, Giant Otters, Caiman, and countless other wild residents. Dinner and overnight at our hotel in Porto Jofre. (B,L,D)

Day 12:

Porto Jofre to Cuiabá

Breakfast and check-out, followed by overland transfer to Cuiabá where we will arrive around 12pm. Lunch in Cuiabá. Drop off at the airport or your hotel in Cuiabá. End of tour……

Price: US$7,450 (shared occupancy), US$8,950 (Single occupancy private room)

Not Included: International and domestic airfare to/from Cuiabá, Brazil (CGB), alcoholic beverages and soft drinks (bottled water included at meals), gratuities for local guides and hotel/restaurant staff, laundry service.
